EC Launch 2021-2022

Posted on April 28, 2021April 28, 2021 by Jenna

Launch day is coming! Launch day is coming!

Do not panic. Remain calm and grab your wallet because you are gonna want to shop until you drop. There are so many options this year, I’m sure you’ll find something you love!

Erin Condren sent me the new daily duo with a side of mid century circle accessories. So far, I love everything! You can watch my review on YouTube.

First off, the daily duo looks great! It’s in the mid century circles in the EC Signature monthly colors. The duo is two books (duh) either July – June or Jan – Dec. There are a few changes from last year. This is my first duo so I am going off what I remember from other’s posts.

The biggest change is Saturday and Sunday have their own page! I LOVE this because most of my to-dos are on the weekend. They are the busiest days for me. Because of this you get a lined page after each Sunday. It also seems they removed the small year at a glance page. I assume this was to save page counts. The duo is thick (although it doesn’t look much thicker than the life planner) and heavy (definitely heavier than the life planner).

I mentioned the blank page after Sunday in the Daily Duo. I have been told that the DD will not have a blank page. I apologize for any excitement you may have had about a blank page. I thought the blank page was a great addition & will cross my fingers they realize how much we all want it!

I have also learned the mini calendars will be in the 7×9 Daily Duo. It will look like the A5 Daily Duo if you have seen those videos from influencers.

The daily duo is available in 7×9 coil or A5 and only Mid Century Circles. You can also get the daily pages in the 7×9 binder or the A5 Agenda.

What else is available?

The 7×9 coil comes in Mid Century Circles, Flora, and the two Just My Type options and you can get the vertical, horizontal, and hourly. The A5 is available in Mid Century Circles, Flora, or Just My Type neutral in the horizontal layout. The new larger 8.5×11 comes in Mid Century Circles and the horizontal layout.

The A5 Agenda also comes in Mid Century Circles, Flora, or Just My Type neutral in the horizontal layout. And the 7×9 binder also comes in Mid Century circles and the vertical, horizontal, or hourly layout.

Pricing, because I know you all want to know!

The 7×9 coiled life planner is $59 and $64 for the metallic cover.

The 8.5×11 coil is $64 and $69 for the metallic cover.

The A5 is $55.

The Daily Duo 7×9 is $76 while the A5 duo is $68.

The A5 Agenda is $79.

The daily binder is $65 and the life planner version is $55.

So, I love all of the accessories but of course I think some of them are more useful to me than others. I’m a pen fan so of course I was excited to see the MCC ballpoint pen ($18.50). It’s got a bit of weight to it and the black ink writes smoothly. But my favorite is the fine tip markers! I first tried these in the Spring Seasonal Surprise Box and fell in love. I love them more than the dual tip so imagine how excited I was to get this 24 pack ($29.50)! It comes in a nice plastic case. It does have some of the same colors that are already available but there are five colors that are unavailable in the other packs.

For decorating your planner there is new washi tape ($5.50), the life planner sticker pack ($8.50), and the MCC sticker book ($15.50). And my personal favorite, the MCC sticky notes ($10.50). Those come in super handy for future planning! And remembering things I would otherwise forget.

Lastly, there is the planny pack ($20), snap-in dashboard ($5.50), and snap-in checklist ($7.50). I love the planny pack for traveling. You can toss in a couple of pens, some sticky notes, whatever little items you may need. I usually strap it to my notebook or a petite planner/notebook for travel. I love the snap-in accessories but I don’t find myself using them much. I think with the daily duo the snap-in dashboard will be helpful. It has to do on one side and Monday through SUnday on the other. I could put a weekly overview since the duo doesn’t have a week view. I love the checklist idea and there’s so many possibilities for using it. You can track hobbies, routines, and cleaning. And I bet people will get creative with it. The other side is blank so great for pre-planning, jotting down a quick note, or doodling while you plan.

What planner are you getting from this launch? Or if you aren’t sure, which one are you leaning towards? How would you use the snap-in dashboard?

Upcoming Erin Condren Launch

Posted on April 20, 2021April 18, 2021 by Jenna

Erin Condren has been releasing tons of sneak peeks for their upcoming launch, which should be soon! They’ve also been giving answers to some questions on social media. Everyone is super excited about this year’s launch because there are so many options that we’ve been asking for!

So what all has EC given us so far?

Designs

There are going to be three designs to choose from. Mid Century Circles is back! Along with Flora and Just My Type. I used to be a neutral planner but this year I did colorful layers and really liked it. And I don’t match all my stickers to the monthly colors. I don’t think it clashes.

Flora is gorgeous and I almost want to go with it. I’m just not a big flower as decor fan. The flora looks really elegant to me.

Lastly, just my type is made for those that I want to add their own flair. It’s pretty plain. I am tempted by this but I wish it was a different font. I’m not a big fan of the 70’s style font.

Sizes

So for years, EC fans have been asking for bigger and smaller planners. They have finally listened! You can now get 8.5×11, 7×9, or A5. I love all the options. The larger size is always tempting because I write big and could use the extra room. I don’t mind the 7×9. It’s actually a pretty decent size. Plus I have all the 7×9 covers and planner stand. A5 is also tempting. It would fit in my purse or bag easily. I could maybe fit it in my petite folios (might have to test this with my budget book).

Overall, I think it’s great that they are offering different sizes. People seem super excited about all the choices.

Options

Now, we’ve talked about the designs and sizes but what options are there? OH SO MANY!

We still have our OG coil which is great for the snap-in accessories. I believe the 7×9 binders will be back. I haven’t seen anything specific on these but am assuming since the teacher binder came back.

Then the biggest new item is the A5 Agenda, a 6 ring vegan leather folio. Look how gorgeous these are! The binder and Agenda allow you to add, remove, or move around as you need. Hopefully, they will offer a better punch than the binder or you can use any A5 punch. With the binder punch, you can do 1-2 pages at a time. It kinda stinks if you want to add a lot. I love how it has slots for cards, a pen loop, and spots for notepads.

There are so many different choices this year! I am struggling to decide which direction I will go in for 2022. I really like the A5 Agenda in Mid Century Circles. I am leaning towards to daily duo because I no longer need a weekly and petite planner. I used to use both when I also used the petite to content plan but I’ve moved my content planning to a monthly planner (and it’s so much easier).

My current plan is to do the Daily Duo in the mid-century circles. I debated the OG 7×9 and A5 size. Based on how many covers I have, I think I will stick with the OG. Yes, I know the A5 coiled will have interchangeable covers (based on the A5 notebooks currently available) but I don’t want to waste all the covers I already have. Did I mention in the comments on Instagram, EC confirmed the DD will have weekends on separate days?! I think that is the biggest thing everyone wanted in the DD (and Petites!). For me, I am busiest on weekends. I was going to try the DD anyway and make it work but this is even better!

I’m also just in love with the MCC A5 Agenda so I may use that for my fitness planner. I was going to use the wellness planner but I hate that it’s only in quarters. I currently use the monthly binder but it’s a bit big. Agenda may be the way to go! Or another option would be to get this for work, especially if I am still telecommuting and going in 1-2 days per week. It would be a nicer planner to carry around than the generic one I have now.

Planning & Being Green

Posted on March 16, 2021March 14, 2021 by Jenna

I love planning. I love being green as well. Sometimes these don’t go together.

I am old school in that I need to write things down. I love having notebooks and planners to jot down a note. I use paper planners for work, my business, and my personal life.

I can’t quit them!

But I also feel a pull to do what I can to save the earth. I’ve tried to use google calendar. I’ve tried to use apps. Multiple times. I just can’t go full-on digital for planning and notes.

Since I can’t give up the paper, I make sure I recycle. If I have to tear each sheet out, I do so. I also love that covers are all reusable. I can just pop it off and reuse it on a notebook or another planner. I even saved my old coils from previous planners to put my covers on!

I recycle and reuse what I can.

I know I will never be fully green. I try but somethings you just can’t get around. How do you stay on track with everything you need to do and keep it green?

Journaling

Posted on February 16, 2021January 30, 2021 by Jenna

I am horrible at journaling.

I’d really love to be one of those people that sits down each night and pours her heart out into a journal. I’ve tried. I never stick with it for longer than a few weeks. But it never happens. I’ve attempted different journals from blank, to prompts, to line a day. Nothing helps.

A couple of years ago, I bought a petite planner gratitude journal. I still was spotty with it, but I eventually finished it! And I bought another one. They are supposed to be six months, but it takes me about a year to complete.

I like the gratitude journal because each day has a different prompt. Each edition of the journal has the same prompts, but it varies by the day. Some people bounce around and fill in the prompt they want to for the day.

I go in order. It forces me to really think about the prompt and what happened that day. After about four weeks of prompts, there is a reflection and look ahead section. And it comes with a sheet of stickers. Because who doesn’t love stickers?

How do you journal? Do you like a blank notebook or something with prompts?

Planning for Goals

Posted on January 19, 2021March 5, 2021 by Jenna

For 2020, I had two planners, a vertical life planner, and the Daily Petites. I used the life planner for my everyday life and the Petites to content plan for my photography business. About halfway through the year, I became an and realized how much work it takes to make these videos and have a slightly different approach for this year.

And I somehow ended up with six planners. Yes, six. Oh, and a desktop calendar.

This video will go through how I’ve decided to use them. This video doesn’t include the Budget Book because I don’t think of that as a planner. It’s a tool to track a budget. If you are curious about the budget book, you can check out my youtube video on it.

So what all do I have? I will go in size order from smallest to largest. I have a pocket planner because I thought it was cute, and I can toss it in my purse to jot things down and check appointments when I’m out. Then I realized I am never out anymore. So I’ll keep it in my bag but not sure how much use it will actually get. On the monthly view, I will put appointments. For the monthly goals, I haven’t decided what I’ll put there. Important dates, to-do, and the lined pages are pretty self-explanatory. Then in the week, I’ll again put appointments, and that’s probably it.

Anyone else have the pocket planner? How are you planning to use it?

Then I have the quarterly daily, and monthly Petites. I’m not using the daily as a content planner this year. I’m using it as a to-do list. I do have some content info in it, mostly on the monthly page. But between a photography business, several ambassadorships, and the EC affiliate, I have many things I need to keep track of. I started testing this in December, and it was so helpful. So I decided to keep it that way.

The monthly is my goal planner. I’m still working out how I’m going to use it. I have it set up for the first quarter, and I’ll review and make changes as I get more into it. I decided to use this one for goals because of the note pages in the back. I listed out my main goals on the first page. Then I divided the rest of the notes into each goal. I think I ended with seven pages for each one. Then on each goal page, I tried to think SMART and break the goal down. I wrote out daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks for each goal. For my budget goal, I made spending track pages for some categories (races, books, EC LOL).

Once I broke down each goal, I made notes on the month about what I want to do. I’m not done with the monthly calendar yet. As you can see, I’ve got the weekly continuing education video and book. I think I will mark each day with a green x if I didn’t spend that day and the amount if I did. It’s a work in progress.

As an affiliate, I received a monthly planner. I was going to try and make it work for me instead of my usual vertical life planner. I set up January about three different times (yay for white-out) before realizing it wasn’t going to work. I had thought about giving it away or selling it, but I had really trashed January, so repurposing seemed best.

Any ideas of how I can use this monthly?? I know a lot of people use it for budgeting but I have the A5 budget book. I’m at a loss and don’t want it to go completely to waste.

So, I said I didn’t like the monthly as my life planner, so I bought the hourly during the Black Friday sale. I have been a vertical person for years, but the hourly just called to me this year. I like the idea of lines to help my terrible writing be a bit better.

So my 12 boxes are the themes and promos for my photography business and runs on espresso. The calendar is paydays, work holidays, appointments. You know, the big overview stuff. In the dashboard, I repeated the significant dates and the monthly themes. Then I wrote the four books I want to read for the month. Not sure what I’ll do with the blank page or dot grid section yet.

In the weekly sections, I wrote my planned workout at the top and put my mileage goal in the notes section. I added tasks for the week and my planned continuing education videos. Then I added some stickers. I’ll add more tasks/chores as they come up.

Lastly, I have the monthly binder for my fitness planning and journaling. I started it back in October to practice and see if it would replace my Believe training journal. So far, I like it, and I’m getting to know how I want to use it.

I stole my 12 boxes idea from someone on Instagram. I will track all of my monthly measurements. On the monthly page, I put little tabs to track my weekly and monthly miles. I’ll add in my training plan once I have it figured out. I’m still trying to figure out the details. On the dashboard, I’ve got my events, goals, and weight plus trackers for them. Then in the lined note section, I’ll write down how my training went each day and how I feel. And on the last page of the month, I’ll do a little monthly recap.

Oh, I almost forgot my content planner! I have the desk pad for that. It’s big enough I can fit it all in! I make sure the monthly theme is on the top. I write in the photo for each day, blog posts, podcasts, and emails. I also include those education videos I want to watch. And on the side, I’ve got my big to-dos and spots for ambassadorship and affiliate planning. I also color-coded the different things so I can glance at and know what I meant. January is always my test, so it’ll get better as I go.

Wow, that is a lot. I’m not sure if I will keep up with this for 2022. It seems like a lot, and some of it is repetitive. But then again, I know writing things down helps me remember, so if I write it down several times, it will undoubtedly help!

What planner or planners are you using for 2021? And how are you planning to use them? I need ideas! LOL

And lastly, as an EC affiliate, I’d really appreciate it if you used my link for all your EC needs. It helps me keep content going and lets EC know that you like my content and want to see more! If you do buy something, come back here and let me know what you got! I really do want to know because I need more planner friends.

How I’m Planning in 2021

Posted on November 19, 2020November 14, 2020 by Jenna

I’m putting together my planners for 2021. I am changing a bit from what Ive done the past few years. Previously I used a vertical life planner, a daily petite, and a desk calendar. The system worked pretty well for me and I love the vertical planner. It makes sense in my head.

I used the vertical life planner for my daily life: workouts, appointments, to-dos, bills due, etc. I used the daily petite for content planning for my photography business. My desk calendar was a Hodge-Podge of personal appointments and business blogs.

For 2021, Im switching it up a bit.

I had planned to continue the same setup. I received the daily petite planners from Erin Condren and was going to order my vertical life planner during the Black Friday sale. But in the holiday box Erin Condren sent out, I received the new monthly planner. I thought about giving it away but wanted to switch up my planning a bit.

I have a pretty good handle on my photography business content, but I’m struggling with Runs on Espresso. I want to be a better ambassador and affiliate, so I need to put in the work. Ive been experimenting a bit this month (November) with how I will use my planners going into 2021.

For next year I have a daily petite, the monthly petite, a monthly coil and binder, and a desk calendar. I swear I didn’t plan to use this many! It just happened.

As stated, I use the daily petite for content planning. For 2021, I am going to use it as a combo of content planning and daily to-do lists. It was a lot of room for what I was using it for. It makes more sense to use the to-do section for all things I need to do, not just blog or social media related. I have also been transferring my workouts from my monthly binder to each day so I can see it in several places.

I was originally going to use my petite monthly to content plan but changed my mind. I haven’t worked it out yet, but I’m making this my goals journal and tracker. I will use the pages in the back to write out and break down my goals and add notes throughout the year. I’ll use the monthly calendars to track “due dates” for steps of each goal.

My monthly coiled planner will be for tracking my personal stuff like appointments, paydays, and bills do. You know, the fun stuff. I love the dashboard and have made notes of how I’ll use each section (important dates, books read, and business goal tracking). I’ll use two note pages per week and add anything there that I need to remember or do for the week that doesn’t fit on the monthly calendar.

You may have seen my previous post, Who is Ready for 2021?, in which I mentioned my plan for the monthly binder. I have been using this now for almost two months and like it. I can plan out a month of my ultramarathon plan, track my races, weight, and measurements. And when 2021 starts, I’ll add my notes on workouts on the lined pages for each month.

Lastly, that pesky desk calendar. I love how it looks so I order it every year but haven’t really had a plan for it. I’ve changed how I use it throughout each year. But not for 2021! For 2021, my desk calendar will be my content planner for my business and this blog. I already started plotting it all out. I’ll list the blog posts, newsletters, social media plans for each month and week. I’ll note the promos or what I’m “pushing” (for lack of a better term) each month.

Whew, that’s a lot of planners and organization I’ve got going on! If you want to see the planners in action, head over to my YouTube channel where I walk through each of these planners.

What planner(s) will you be using next year?

Erin Condren Holiday 2020

Posted on November 5, 2020November 23, 2021 by Jenna

I was lucky enough to receive a holiday box from Erin Condren as part of their affiliate program. Any links will be my affiliate links and I would appreciate it if you used them. I will earn a small percentage for each purchase.

I get excited for Christmas time every year.

I love finding gifts for friends and family. I actually buy items all year round when I find the perfect item. I love giving unique gifts over gift cards. The fun is the hunt for the right thing.

Plus, you get to listen to Bing Crosby croon as you wrap presents and bake cookies.

Although the Erin Condren Holiday collection is meant to be given as gifts, I want to keep it all for myself! I love everything I received and flipping through the lookbook, I am finding more things I want for myself! We may be doing the one for you, one for me gift buying this year.

I say Christmas because that is what I celebrate but really these items could be given for any holiday or birthday. The items are definitely not Christmasy. Everything is so colorful and beautiful. And many items use this year’s popular layers, floral, and mid-century circle patterns. Even what I call ornaments aren’t really ornaments. They are paper decorations and the colors are rich, jewel tones as opposed to red and green.

You can shop for all the holiday items at erincondren.com. If you aren’t an Insider, you can use my referral link to sign up and save $10 on your first order.

I cannot wait to do this layers puzzle. And mix up a cranberry champagne cocktail. What are you most looking forward to from the Erin Condren Holiday collection?

Referral link info: You will receive $10 off your first purchase and I will earn Insider points.
